What is QuickSight?
AWS offers QuickSight, a cloud-powered business intelligence service that provides very fast speeds to its customers. It allows business users to see the data stored in AWS repositories such as RedShift Data Warehouse and Elastic MapReduce.
QuickSight allows customers to quickly create visualizations, do ad-hoc analyses, and get business insights from data. Customers can upload CSV and Excel files and connect to databases such as SQLServer, MySQL, or PostgreSQL either in the cloud or on premises.
Why QuickSight?
QuickSight makes it easy to get started by creating our Expert line visualization in minutes. It also offers the ability to suggest the best visualizations using its innovative Autograph technology.
We can import huge amounts of data from many data sources. QuickSight: Parallel, In-memory and Super-fast, Calculation Engine (SPICE), works in the cloud to provide fast responses. Simply connect to the data, visualize, and share.
QuickSight costs 1/10th as much as traditional BI solutions. There are no upfront investments, no costly hardware or infrastructure to buy or manage, and there are no additional license fees or maintenance fees.

QuickSight Features
Choose your data source
Uploading CSV or Excel files from AWS data sources like Amazon Redshift, Amazon RDS, and Amazon S3 is possible. We can connect to databases such as SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL in the cloud or on premises; or to SaaS apps like Salesforce.
SPICE – The Parallel, In-memory, Super-fast, Parallel Calculation Engine
Amazon QuickSight’s Superfast, Parallel, In Memory, Calculation Engine (SPICE), which combines columnar storage, in memory technologies, machine code generation, data compression, and machine code generation to enable users to run interactive queries across large datasets and receive fast responses. SPICE supports rich calculations, which allow customers to derive valuable insights without having to worry about managing or provisioning infrastructure.
Smart Visualizations
Amazon QuickSight has a built-in suggestion engine which suggests visualizations based upon the properties of the underlying data. Amazon QuickSight recommends the best graph types for visualization of the data as we drill into it using Autograph, an algorithm that learns over time which visualizations match your analytical patterns.
Use Anytime, Anywhere
QuickSight dashboards can be accessed via web browser or the QuickSight iPhone application. Amazon promises to offer Android app and tablet support in future releases, including offline viewing.
Collaborate and Share
QuickSight makes it easy to share business insights. We can package them up into interactive stories that we can share. QuickSight’s Storyboard feature allows us to combine visualizations into business dashboards, and share them in a secure manner with employees or groups.
