Amazon Web Services (AWS) Inc. added two new competencies in the AWS Partner Network. One for Storage and one to Life Sciences.
APN Competency Program connects AWS customers to qualified APN partners who are technical experts and have proven success in specialized areas.
According to Jeff Barr, AWS evangelist and blogger on Monday, the new Storage competency is awarded to partners who have demonstrated success in helping customers “evaluate techniques and technologies that enable [them] effectively store data in AWS Cloud.”
To apply for a Storage competency, partners must first meet the requirements for Advanced APN Technology Partners. They must also have at least one approved storage product that is available in at minimum three AWS regions. Each product must fall under one of the four Storage competency use cases: backup, disaster recovery and archive, primary file storage/cloud-NAS.
Partner must submit at least two customer endorsements for storage products.
AWS currently has seven partners who have earned the Storage competency. These include Riverbed and CommVault Systems. You can find more information about the Storage competency, including requirements here.
The new Life Sciences competency is targeted at ISVs and system integrators (SIs), who specialize in the pharmaceutical, health care, and related industries. Barr stated that the competency’s partners have proven successful in helping customers “conduct drugs discovery, manage clinical trials and initiate manufacturing and distribution activities as well as R&D of genetic-based treatments.
The Life Sciences competency is open to both Technology Partners and Consulting Partners. You can find more information, including requirements, about this competency here.
